Different types of generating sets
The purpose of the generator set is to guarantee the supply of electricity even when there is no public power. It is, therefore, fundamental and of vital importance for those companies where the interruption of electricity can result in considerable damage.
There are different models of gensets that can be used according to various needs. Fire-fighting gensets can also be found on the market: they use a mixture of electrical and thermal energy to drive hydraulic pumps, which operate fire-fighting systems in the event of fires in enclosed spaces. The main part is the heat engine, usually powered by petrol, diesel, or LPG, but there are also electric models with a photovoltaic panel to capture photon particles.
Aside from the power supply, the purpose of the genset is to generate mechanical energy through the pistons of the engine, which for its part will turn an alternator, which will produce electricity through a physical process that uses magnetic energy, a procedure very similar to that of a bicycle dynamo.
